History
Since the founding of the firm by Pat Becker Sr. in 1976, Becker Capital Management has earned a national reputation for its value-driven investment philosophy and active portfolio management. Our growth has allowed us to continually augment and enhance our capabilities to deliver investment management and client service.
The Early Years
The investment world was quite a different place in 1976. Relatively few individuals owned stocks and many believed the investment world to be mystifying and inaccessible. Pat saw the opportunity to serve his clients and the community through his disciplined and consistent value approach to investing, combined with commen sense, transparency and trust. In 1987, we established our first AIMR/GIPS separate account composite. This provided significant institutional asset growth and earned us a reputation for being a trusted advisor to an expanded universe of clients.A Milestone
Our disciplined approach to investing led to the launch of the Becker Value Equity Fund (BVEFX) in 2003. The Fund’s investment objective is to deliver long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in companies that we believe are undervalued. In 2010, the Becker Value Equity Fund earned a silver medal Mutual Fund Excellence Award in the domestic large-cap category from Standard & Poor’s. To meet the growing needs of the institutional marketplace, a new institutional share class of the Fund (BVEIX) was launched in 2011.Gaining National Presence
To expand the firm’s market visibility regionally and nationally, Becker Capital added a marketing division in 2005. This initiative brought wider attention to our distinctive investment process and the Becker Value Equity Fund’s track record.Winning High Ratings

In 2006 and again in 2007, we were recognized by Oregon Business Magazine as one of the top 100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon.
