Becker Capital Management is proud to announce that it has become a signatory of the United Nations-Supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The step is a significant demonstration of the firm’s long-standing commitment to responsible investment and its community.

“We are very pleased to welcome Becker Capital Management as a signatory to the PRI. In joining PRI, the organization is recognizing the importance of incorporating ESG factors into its investment strategies. We look forward to working with the team,” said PRI CEO Fiona Reynolds.

PRI is an independent, international body that is recognized as the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. They believe that an economically efficient, sustainable global financial system is a necessity for long-term value creation. The PRI will work to achieve this sustainable global financial system by encouraging adoption of the Principles and collaboration on their implementation; by fostering good governance, integrity and accountability; and by addressing obstacles to a sustainable financial system that lie within market practices, structures and regulation.

The Six Principles and Becker Capital’s Commitment:

  1. To incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes;
  2. To be an active owner and to incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices;
  3. To seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest;
  4. To promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry;
  5. To work with the PRI Secretariat and other signatories to enhance their effectiveness in implementing the Principles;
  6. To report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

“We are pleased to have taken the natural step of becoming a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment,” said Janeen McAninch, CEO of Becker Capital. “We are also very fortunate to have the support of wonderful clients to whom responsible and sustainable investing is very important.”

Chief Investment Officer Blake Howells, CFA, CFP® added “The development of our impact investing platform has been a multi-year process. What started as an extension of our long-standing work with individuals and organizations incorporating social investment guidelines has grown rapidly into a multi-faceted and proactive strategy aimed at achieving the financial and impact goals of interested clients.”

“We are excited to formally join a community of investors that consider the impact of the investment decisions they make. We look forward to working with and learning from other organizations that have adopted these principles,” said Portfolio Manager T.J. McConville.
